Environmental, Health & Safety Advisor
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Health, Safety and Environment Advisor on a permanent, full-time basis which will require frequent travel to our projects based in and around London. The purpose of this role is to continue to demonstrate the commitment the business has in regards to Health, Safety and Environment and providing a safe place for all employees to work within.
The role would suit someone that is keen to develop their career in a growing organisation. The person would be fully involved in helping to shaping the Health, Safety and Environmental agenda with the support of the Head of Health, Safety and Environment. We are therefore looking for someone who is bright, enthusiastic and looking for a challenge. You will be reporting to the Head of Health, Safety and Environment.

Key Responsibilities
To provide expert advice and guidance in order to further promote a positive.
- Participating in the development of the Health, Safety and Environment strategy within the business and helping with the review of all current internal policies and updating where required.
- Monitoring and analysing the monthly Health, Safety and Environment statistics looking for any current trends and reporting on these, providing input into monthly reports, looking to continuously improve process or procedures where necessary.
- Participate in the creation and deliver of an in-house behavioural safety training programme to all staff.
- Participating in the delivery of a quarterly Health, Safety and Environment presentation to all staff, updating them on recent updates/statistics etc.
- Contribute to the quarterly staff newsletter –Health, Safety and Environment update.
- Have input into the company focus groups to look at areas for development/best practice.
- Ensure ISO certification and standards are maintained across the entire operation, including (BS EN ISO14001:2015 – Environment and BS EN ISO 45001:2018– Occupational Health & Safety).
- Ensure Achilles/NSAI standards are maintained.
- Ensure Company remains in full compliance with current and future OHS legislation.
- Health, Safety and Environment regulations and requirements are correctly interpreted and adhered to by all Designer Group staff.
- Participate in implementing Health, Safety and
- Environmental initiatives to ensure Designer Group differentiate themselves from their competitors.
- Systems relating to construction regulations, contractor management and hazardous work tasks (permit to work) are optimised, audited and fully effective.
- Provide advice to Senior Management and Site Teams in relation to ensuring all plant and equipment is used in compliance with Health, Safety and Environment regulations. For example safety harnesses, mobile scaffolds/plant etc.
- Undertake workplace inspections and management audits.
- Show leadership at all times when undertaking your duties.
- Foster and encourage engagement with all parties.
- Undertake accident / incident investigations ensuring maximum learning is taken and shared with other DG sites and personnel and where appropriate assist in revised safe systems of work.
- Have a ‘don’t walk by’ attitude to breaches of Health, Safety and Environment.
- Ensure all DG procedures are followed and where not provide advice on compliance.
- Oversee and help with the implementation of site specific health, safety and environmental documentation, ensuring risks and hazards are effectively communicated to all relevant parties.
- Health, Safety and Environment input and documentation into new site set ups.
- Method Statements and Risk Assessments are issued on all projects, when required, in conjunction with the Construction Team. Similarly, Method Statements, Risk Assessments and SWP’s must accompany works carried out at Office and other regional offices/sites.
- Participate in the audit processes and procedures, ensuring the business complies with all relevant statutory and best practice.
- Ensure Designer Group comply with duties imposed under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM).
- Advice on training requirements for all site and office-based staff
