Job Title: People Generalist

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a People Generalist on a full-time basis. 

 

As part of the People Partnering team, the People Generalist will support the Senior People Business Partner in the completion of a range of employee lifecycle processes and in supporting the achievement of people objectives and business strategy. The role will be a key point of contact for the range of HR support provided by the Department to our internal stakeholders. 

The People Generalist will be seen as first point of contact for any employee People related queries. 

They will ensure that all employee enquiries are answered in a timely and effective manner, ensuring they are escalated where appropriate. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

*        To act as the primary contact for the business in respect of the range of general HR support requirements. 

*        To support business leads in the management of people priorities and change management processes. 

*        To be a key point of contact on people issues for an internal stakeholder group. 

*        To support the delivery of key projects to the business, such as team changes, site allocation. 

*        To work collaboratively with the Talent Acquisition Team in relation to recruitment requirements. 

*        Assist with the allocation of labour to projects. 

*        Seen as an expert within the business in relation to basic HR policies. 

*        To assist with updating policies and procedures and the Company employee handbook. 

*        Scheduling and attendance as support to line managers at a range of people focused meetings, e.g. absence meetings. 

 

To be the key process owner for the following People process, e.g.: 

*        New Hire Induction – to ensure our New Starters feel welcome an receive exceptional and unique experience when joining the Company. Collaborate with line managers on induction plans. 

*        Some right to work processes, in conjunction with the TA team. 

*        Absence management inc. return to work interviews. 

*        Support management and administration of Employee Relations cases (Disciplinary/Grievance etc). 

*        Tracking probationary management reviews and support managers to complete the probationary period effectively. 

*        Maintenance of location/line managers on the HRIS system. 

*        Annual leave management. 

*        Probation reviews management. 

*        Liaison with the People Operations Partner in respect of weekly and monthly payroll changes. 

*        Management of changes to terms and conditions –Approval process/ HR correspondence/payroll/HRIS. 

*        Leaver process including exit questionnaire. To follow up on any feedback/actions if necessary. 

*        Personnel files management. 

*        Assist with maintenance of DG organisational charts. 

*        Management of paternity/maternity applications. 

*        Run and prepare regular and ad hoc HR Reports. Assist with preparation of monthly HR board reports. 

*        Management of all employee HR documentation and correspondence. Ensure templates are up to date. Manage filling of HR related documents. Propose improvements within the current filling structure. 

        Management of HR Information System(People XD) – *To act as a Super User for new hire approval and to update employee data. 

*        Take notes at HR related meetings, e.g. investigatory meetings. 

*        Contribute to the overall HR function and team delivery, being flexible in delegation and cover as required. 

*        Conducting site visits to project sites, to support line management and ensure HR access to site based personnel. 

 

Knowledge / Experience 

*        Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role. 

*        CIPD Assoc/Grad qualified or willing to study. 

*        Some experience in the construction or M& industry is preferred. 

*        Experience providing a high standard of support within a busy and fast paced environment with changing priorities. 

Person Specification 

*        PC literacy including MS Word, Excel, Power Point. 

*        Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written. 

*        Keen interest in HR and keen to progress. Eager to learn. 

*        Able build good relationships with work colleagues. 

*        Have drive and enthusiasm and demonstrate practice and behaviors in line with the core values of Designer Group. 

*        Able to deal with sensitive situations. 

*        Excellent attention to detail, friendly and helpful nature. 

*        Able to use own initiative in decision making. Enjoys problem solving.
