Senior Environmental, Health & Safety Advisor (Ireland - Site Based)

 

Designer Group is seeking to recruit a Senior Environmental, Health & Safety Advisor to join its growing EHS department.

Overview of duties

 

  • Implementation of the Company’s EHS Management System.

  • Developing, updating site-specific EHS Plans and Emergency Response Plans.

  • Provide EHS advice and direction to relevant personnel on-site as required.

  • Collecting and collating relevant information for handover to the Client at the end of the project.

  • Attend daily activity briefings and whiteboard meetings.

  • Tracking and compiling of weekly KPIs and issue to SMT.

  • Chair internal EHS meetings and representation at client EHS meetings.

  • Reviewing the SWPs (Safe Work Plans) for the tasks on site.

  • Compiling and reviewing RAMS.

  • Conducting regular site audits/inspections to ensure health and safety compliance to Company and Client procedures/rules.

  • Assist with carrying out accident, incident investigations and root cause analysis studies.

  • Assist in evaluating potential new contractors and completing preaward meetings

  • Continue to develop the company’s Behavioural Safety Program and organise safety promotion reward schemes and initiatives.

  • Supervise and manage EHS documentation to support the Company’s integrated safety management system.

  • Delivering Health & Safety orientation programs for personnel working on site.

  • Prepare and deliver training courses, including training assessments.

  

Key requirements

  • Hold a recognised third-level qualification or Diploma in Health & Safety

  • Fluent in English

  • At least five years’ health and safety experience gained in construction sector, preferably electrical and mechanical engineering

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Excellent planning, organisational, training, teamwork and presentation skills

  • Excellent literacy, numeric and IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft and excellent document control.

  • Full, clean driving license

  • Flexibility in line with business requirements

  • Ability to always represent the company in a professional manner

 

Desired Skills:

 

  • Occupational First Aider

  • Mental Health First Aider

  • Membership of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.

  • Competent in the use of online induction software and mobile devices to complete audits/inspections.

  • Working within a generative culture, liaising with Client/PSDP/PSCS.

  • Working in a highly regulated environment.
