The Role

The Project Planner plays a vital role in a construction project. The role of the Project Planner is to support the project team (Project Manager/Site Managers etc) during their day-to-day operations. As Planner you will be responsible for the planning management of projects, ensuring that the project reporting is accurate and that the necessary plans and reports are prepared for submission to the senior management.  You will need to be a key part of the team on site and will need to communicate effectively with the Project and Construction Managers. 

 

Roles and Responsibilities

*        Plan, coordinate and supervise all planning and scheduling efforts. 

*        Develop and maintain the fully resource loaded Project Schedule in such a way that it meets contract requirements. 

*        Organise and coordinate with the relevant managers regarding the day to day operations of the jobsite including reporting requirements, progress status, and preparing time impact analysis. 

*        Work with project team on what-if schedules to analyse impacts of differing construction means and methods 

*        Communicates status milestones and issues to project management team relative to time, budget and demonstrated results. 

*        Programming, scheduling and assist in budget preparation and cost management. 

*        Co-ordinate regular site inspections to monitor the schedule. 

*        Provide advice on re-scheduling or restructuring roll out schedules where necessary. Update plans and forecast potential scenarios. Advise on feasibility of changes. 

*        Provide regular planning reports and monitoring schedules to give the team a clear and precise understanding of the project status which describes current project status, deviations, and identifies any/all critical schedule issues and potential impact on the future roll out schedule.  

*        Submit requirements and justifications for resourcing manpower. Monitor for accuracy and variance. 

*        Give advice on planning and programme issues encountered during the project lifecycle. 

*        Produce short term programmes to ensure members of the team understand immediate and short term goals and objectives. 

*        Represent the company in a presentable and professional manner. 

*        Responsibility for quality and accuracy of schedules and reports. 

 

Qualifications and Skills 

*        BS in Engineering, Business or Construction Management or similar. 

*        Minimum Experience required:  5+ years previous experience in a similar role. 

*        Proficient in the use of MS Project/Primavera   

*        Proficient in all MS Office packages, with advanced level MS Excel. 

*        Strong oral and written communications skills and the ability to apply appropriate communication techniques to various individuals. 

*        Strong interpersonal skills are required, demonstrating a consistent commitment and ability to work with diverse work groups and individuals. 

*        Career driven, ambitious and enthusiastic.  

*        Ability to work well under pressure and within a strict deadline environment.
